UK overall tonnage down slightly year-on-year

THE UK's overall weekly average price has seen a drop of £13.79 compared with last week although this is now a more balanced sample, according to the AHDB. Last week's sample had a heavy bias towards packing material.
On a like-for-like basis, overall tonnage is down slightly year-on-year. There is a higher inclusion of free-buy material compared to the same week last year though, with over 30% of trade last week on free-buy.
This weeks free-buy price is a non-validated price due to primary data thresholds not being met.
The WAPS values are weighted averages calculated from volume and value data from all market sectors. The average price includes both free-buy and contract purchases. The free-buy price includes free-buy data only.
