Potato spill causes A1 closure
Potatoes spilled over the A1 near Dunglas Bridge in Dunbar, causing its closure today, after a lorry overturned.
The Scottish Sun reported that police and the Trunk Road Incident Support Service were called to the Thistly Cross Roundabout in East Lothian just before 8am and part of the southbound A1 road, which links Edinburgh to England, was closed, with motorists diverted on the A199 between Haddington and Thistly Cross Roundabout.
The vehicle landed on its side on the roundabout, spilling its load over the carriageway and workers in high-vis vests had to brush hundreds of potatoes onto the verge in a bid to clear the road for drivers.
Traffic Scotland reported the crash at 7.45am, and confirmed the road had been closed by 8.15am.
There were not believed to have been any casualties.
