More packing varieties drive up WAPS
THE overall GB weekly average price (WAPS) has increased this week. A large driver of this has been the increased inclusion of packing varieties in the overall sample taken by AHDB.
Last week’s sample saw an increased volume of supplies destined for processing markets, however, this has not occurred to the same degree this week.
Overall tonnage has fallen on the week, and remains below levels recorded last year. Contracted material continues to makeup the lion’s share of the sample.
The WAPS values are weighted averages calculated from volume and value data from all market sectors. The average price includes both free-buy and contract purchases. The free-buy price includes free-buy data only.
