Last chance to get advice from hosts

TOMORROW is the last chance to attend a ‘Top Tip’ online meeting aimed at growers looking to get involved with LEAF Open Farm Sunday.

From the why to the how, there will be lots of top tips on how to make it easy and fun, and the emphasis is on small events for the local community – such as a farm walk, a farmyard show-and-tell, community collaboration, or nature trail.

These (no commitment) online events are ideal for growers wanting to see what it's all about or needing to get a buy-in from other business and family members. They will hear from those who've taken part in the past and will have an opportunity to ask three or more experienced LOFS hosts questions.

The final Top Tip session takes place tomorrow between 8am and 9am. Contact [email protected] to book a place.

LEAF Open Farm Sunday aims to strengthen support for farmers and takes place on June 27th. The event, which will see hundreds of farmers open their farm gates to the public, is organised by Linking Environment And Farming (LEAF).

LEAF Open Farm Sunday Manager, Annabel Shackleton, said: “This year we are seeing more people spending time in the great outdoors and cooking from scratch, and there is a genuine interest across society to learn about where food comes from, the work farmers do and how the countryside is managed.

“With staycations and trips to the countryside increasing, we anticipate there will be more people than ever wanting to visit a farm this summer, and we want to encourage as many farmers as possible to get involved with the confidence they can manage their events safely.”
