Eating out puts the pressure on bagging sector

The Eat-out to Help-Out scheme has increased demand for the bagging market over the past couple of weeks, with dine-in premises putting the pressure on supply.
Cooler weather affected coastal trade slightly, which is where the bulk of the demand came from.
While prices remained stable, trade has been limited to low volumes, according to the AHDB, and lifting had slowed with the weather.
Meanwhile, there has been a minor pick-up in demand for packing markets over the past week, although market movement remains dominated by contracted supplies.
Movement of Reds has picked up as set skin supplies become available, though still prove difficult to find in large volumes.
Plenty of rainfall hindered growers across most of England and parts of Scotland. Those on lighter soils planned to return to fields over the bank holiday weekend to resume lifting.
