Consumers choose Aldi for best fresh spuds and veg

Discount retailer comes out top in FPC Fresh Awards.

ALDI has been voted by UK consumers as providing the best fresh veg in the nation.

The retailer won Multiple Fruit & Vegetable Retailer of the Year Award, one of The FPC Fresh Awards, which took place at The JW Marriott Grosvenor House hotel in London recently.

The awards celebrate outstanding achievements of fresh produce and floral businesses as well as those individuals involved in trading with the UK market - from growers and suppliers to service providers, marketers and personnel from across the globe - and the winners are chosen by consumer polls.

Aldi won the award on account of the freshness, shelf-life, quality and low-cost of its fresh produce range.

Prepared veg supplier Fenmarc, based in the Fens, saw its Procurment Manager, Alex Thorne, awarded 'The Rising Star of the Year' award Yorkshire-based veg supplier GT Produce won the 'Wholesale Fruit and Veg Supplier of the Year' award.

London wholesale veg supplier County Supplies was crowned Foodservice Supplier of the Year 2022 while chilled freight and warehouse provider PML won the 'Business Service Partner' award.

Ocado was voted 'Online Retailer of the Year' while Tesco was voted 'Convenience Retailer of the Year'.
