Aphid and virus collaboration
A COLLABORATIVE approach to aphid and virus control has seen widespread industry engagement in the UK this year, despite the major stumbling presented by the outbreak of COVID-19.
A range of stakeholders, including growers, agronomists, researchers, trade associations, government bodies, research organisations and independent agronomists, attended an initial National Virus Forum at the start of the year, to address a prevalence of virus in ware potato crops during the previous season. The meeting was jointly hosted by the AHDB and NFU.
Since then, there has been widespread industry engagement to better understand where issues exist, and improvements can be made.
