30% crop loss for growers in Northern India
HUNDREDS of potato growers in the Munsiyari sub-division of Uttarakhand in northern India have suffered heavy losses owing to heavy rainfall last month.
Around 30% of crops have been lost.
Roads damaged in the rains have compounded growers' problems, leading to extra transportation costs to take produce to local markets.
