BASF and LEAF team up to educate schoolchildren about growing.
SUPPLIER of fungicides, insecticides, herbicides and seed treatments, BASF Agricultural Solutions, has partnered up with LEAF Education to raise UK school children's awareness about the impacts of growing on food production.
Topics covered by their joint programme for primary school children, Why Farming Matters, include the importance of soil, energy production, food provenance, water use and biodiversity on farm.
The campaign, which launched on January 16th, is targeted at primary school teachers and growers.
The Why Farming Matters teaching material covers the big questions primary school children ask about how food is produced, who produces it, and the many jobs associated with growing and the countryside. It also looks at the impact of the weather and environmental effects.
LEAF Education is the education arm of sustainable farming organisation LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming).
