Wash range claims to boost shelf life
MANUFACTURERS of a range of liquid washes, sprays and wipes claim it will double the shelf life of potatoes, carrots and other veg.
Veggi Wash Fruit Too, a range of liquid washes, sprays and wipes have been developed to break down pesticides and other products used in the growth and storage of our favourite vegetables so they can be easily rinsed away.
It's claimed the products, which are made from coconut oil, grape and corn extracts, are five times more effective than simply washing produce with water alone.
Data from the Food Standards Agency, Soil Association & PANUK suggests around a third of fruit and vegetables consumed in the UK contain pesticides and, since they are designed to be waterproof, washing solely with water will not remove them.
Developed in conjunction with food hygiene experts, the Veggi Wash Fruit Too products have been independently safety tested, and are marketed as being ecologically and environmentally safe.
