New trainees sought for MDS Leadership and Management scheme.

THE MDS Leadership and Management scheme, which offers apprenticeships in the fresh produce supply chain to those who have worked in different sectors, has received good feedback from bosses who recruited its mature apprentices following its launch last year, and is now looking for more trainees.

Member businesses include Syngenta, Aldi, Barfoots, Berry Gardens and Protolan. They provide secondments for trainees to learn ‘on the job’ in roles with real responsibility, often managing specific projects or filling seasonal peaks.

Trainees are carefully recruited by not-for-profit organisation MDS and all secondments are supported by off-the-job mentoring and training from MDS in partnership with The Apprenticeship College.

Having run a graduate training programme for more than 35 years for the fresh produce and food industry, last year MDS launched the Leadership and Management Apprenticeship for those at any stage in their careers, whether graduates or non-graduates and an operations and supply chain apprenticeship.
